It’s All About Community

Hi there

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Nashville "YOU STAYED" EP release show at 12th & Porter on September 21st.

It meant so much to me to see so many fans from out of town, as well as lots of Nashville fans, too. It was a festive night, beginning with an opening set from Carter Sampson and then, my fellow Texan friend, the brilliant Patrice Pike. When I arrived at the club for sound check, fans were already gathering outside and it warmed my heart to see so many familiar faces. My favorite thing about making music is that it brings people together. As Patrice so aptly pointed out in her set, "This is about community", and I’m so grateful that this event provided an excuse for friends to gather and have a good time.

Every element of the night felt really good to me, from the energy and vibe in the room, to the welcoming feeling at the merch table (thanks, Carol and Charles!), to the lights and the sound (thanks, Crash!) and I absolutely loved sharing the stage with my incredible band, featuring John Richardson (drums), Adam Beard (bass), Adam Ollendorff (guitar), Gabe Dixon (keyboards), and Vanessa Olivarez (bgv’s). These people are all consummate pros and genuinely good people, and it was really fun playing with them.

Two more people I love? Harry and Karan Simpson from Mimosa Arts. They were filming the show, and they put together a few clips we will be releasing. This first one is the live performance of "I Didn’t Just Kiss Her."
